J. H. received an A.A. degree from Florida Christian College, and earned his B.A. degree from David Lipscomb College in 1955. He has been a Gospel preacher since 1949. He has preached in Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, Germany and Panama and has long been active in radio, television, brotherhood lectureships and Gospel meetings. He has been on the staff of the the Florida School of Preaching in Lakeland, Florida, since it's beginning in 1969, where he teaches speech, Bible and Bible-related subjects. He currently preaches for the North Lakeland church of Christ where he has been located since 1991.
