God is Everywhere
- INTRODUCTION:
- QUESTIONS:
- Have you ever wondered where God
is?
Note: The
Psalmist asked this question. Psalms
42:10 = "
Where is thy God?"
- Is God everywhere?
- Does God know everything that man
does?
Note: The
answer to both of these questions is found in:
- John
4:24 = "God is a Spirit: and they that
worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
- Psalms
139:7-12 = "Whither shall I go from thy
spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
[8] If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there:
if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
[9] If I take the wings of the morning, and
dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; [10]
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand
shall hold me. [11] If I say, Surely the darkness
shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
[12 ] Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee;
but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light
are both alike to thee."
- Therefore, God is in Spirit form,
thus invisible to the natural eye; and though personal in
being, His presence permeates the universe.
- LET US TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT GODS
PRESENCE IN THE UNIVERSE .
- DISCUSSION:
- GOD IS BEFORE US:
- God is the great progressive power
that leads men forward in both moral and spiritual achievement.
- God went before Israel:
- Leading them out of bondage:
Hosea
11:1 = "When Israel was a child, then
I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt."
Exodus
14:15 = " And the LORD said unto Moses,
Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of
Israel, that they go forward:"
- His presence was manifest in the
cloud and in the pillar of fire. Exodus
13:21 = "And the LORD went before them
by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and
by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go
by day and night:"
- His presence was also in the ark
that was carried before the Israelites. [Read Joshua
chapter 3.]
- God has sent His Son to go before
us:
- Jesus is our captain. Hebrews
2:10 = "For it became him, for whom are
all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many
sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation
perfect through sufferings."
- Paul know the importance of following
Christ. Philippians
3:13-14 = "Brethren, I count not myself
to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting
those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those
things which are before,[14] I press toward
the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ
Jesus."
- We are urged to follow in the footsteps
of Christ and press on.
- I
Peter 2:21 = "For even hereunto were
ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving
us an example, that ye should follow his steps."
- Hebrews
6:1-2 = "Therefore leaving the principles
of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection;
not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead
works, and of faith toward God, [2] Of
the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and
of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment."
- II
Peter 3:18 = " But grow in grace, and
in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen."
Note: He who
makes no progress loses sight of Lord.
- GOD IS BEHIND US:
- To instruct us in the way of life.
Isaiah
30:21 = " And thine ears shall hear a word
behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when
ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left."
- To inspect our lives. Genesis
17:1 = "And when Abram was ninety years
old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him,
I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect."
- To cause is to be faithful that goodness
and mercy follow us. Psalms
23:6 = "Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the
house of the LORD for ever."
- To shield us from past sins.
- After the Israelites cross the
Red Sea, they saw her enemies perish behind them.
[Read Exodus chapter 14.]
- God remits our sins and remembers
them no more.
- Acts
2:38 = " Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive
the gift of the Holy Ghost."
- Hebrews
8:12 = " For I will be merciful to
their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities
will I remember no more."
- GOD IS OVER US:
Ephesians
4:6 = "One God and Father of all, who is
above all, and through all, and in you all."
- To send us showers of blessings.
James
1:17 = "Every good gift and every perfect
gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights,
with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
- To look upon us in or trials and
to hear our prayers. 1
Peter 3:12= "For the eyes of the Lord are
over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers:
but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil."
- To shelter us.
Psalms
91:1-2 = "He that dwelleth in the secret
place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the
Almighty.[2] I will say of the LORD,
He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust."
Matthew
23:37 = "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that
killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto
thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together,
even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and
ye would not!"
- To reveal to us his glory. Psalms
19:1-2 = "The heavens declare the glory
of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto
day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge."
- GOD IS AROUND US:
Psalms
125:2 = "As the mountains are round about
Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth
even for ever."
- As our defense. Note: Jerusalem
was fortified by nature with the mountains and deep valleys
where the city was built. God is our protection from evil.
I
Corinthians 10:13 = "There hath no temptation
taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that
ye may be able to bear it."
- As our support exhorting us to walk
in his ways.
Ephesians
2:10 = "For we are his workmanship, created
in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained
that we should walk in them."
Ephesians
4:1 = "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord,
beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye
are called."
I
John 1:7 = "But if we walk in the light,
as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all
sin."
- GOD IS IN US:
Ephesians
4:6 = "One God and Father of all, who is
above all, and through all, and in you all."
- He will dwell in us.
II
Corinthians 6:16-18 = "And what agreement
hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of
the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and
walk in them; and I will be their Lgod, and they shall be
my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate,
saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will
receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be
my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."
I
Corinthians 3:16 = "Know ye not that ye
are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwellelth
in you?"
- He will commune with us. Revelation
3:20 = "Behold, I stand at the door, and
knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will
come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
- GOD IS UNDER, OR BENEATH US:
- To catch us when we fall. His hand
is extended to help us walk straight again.
- To give us rest in death. Revelation
14:13 = "And I heard a voice from heaven
saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the
Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may
rest from their labours; and their works do follow them."
- CONCLUSION:
- WE SHOULD BE THANKFUL THAT GOD IS EVER
WITH US.
- We are never alone.
- We have His loving guidance and strength
to help us keep our names in the Lambs book of life
(Revelation
21:27).
- We are more careful to "
Work
out your own salvation with fear and trembling, For it is
God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good
pleasure." = Philippians
2:12-13.
- SINCE GOD IS EVERYWHERE AND KNOWS ALL
ARE YOU READY TO MEET HIM IN JUDGMENT?
Revelation
20:12-13 = "And I saw the dead, small and
great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another
book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were
judged out of those things which were written in the books,
according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which
were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were
in them: and they were judged every man according to their works."
