Impurities of all Kinds


  1. INTRODUCTION:
    1. DEFINITION: [WEBSTER’S COLLEGIATE DICTIONARY]
      1. Impure:
        1. That which contains something unclean, dirty or unwholesome;
        2. Adulterated; unclean ceremonially; not purified; defiled;
        3. Unchaste, lewd, obscene.
      2. Impurity: That which is, or which renders something impure.
    2. SCRIPTURE READING: Ephesians 5:1-14, Ephesians 5:25-28.
      1. The Lord wants His church to be glorious without blemish [Ephesians 5:27].
      2. The Lord has given us the Bible, with His inspired Word, to warn us about these impurities "that the man of God may be perfect". II Timothy 3:16-17 = "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."
    3. LOOK WITH FOR A FEW MINUTES AT WHAT THE BIBLE HAS TO SAY ABOUT IMPURITIES:
  2. DISCUSSION:
    1. THEY ARE A DIRECT VIOLATION OF GOD’S DIVINE LAW:
      1. Exodus 20:14 = "Thou shalt not commit adultery."
      2. Galatians 5:19-21 = "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, [20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, [21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."
      3. Colossians 3:5-9 = "Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: [6] For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: [7] In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them [8] But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. [9] Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;"
    2. THEY DISHONOR GOD AND HIS HOLINESS:
      1. Worldly impurities are completely inconsistent with God’s will.
      2. 2 Peter 1:4 = "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."

      3. We are to live in faithful obedience that we may be found at the judgment to have brought praise and glory to the Lord.

      1 Peter 1:7 = "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:"

      John 5:23 = "That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him."

    3. THEY OPPOSE, OR BLOCK, THE PURPOSE OF THE GOSPEL:
    4. Titus 2:14 = "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."

      2 Corinthians 7:1 = "Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

      I John 1:7 = "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

      Comment: Jesus suffered and died in the flesh that we should die to the flesh. 1 Peter 4:1-2 = "Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; [2] That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God."

    5. THEY GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT:
      1. Ephesians 4:30 = "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."
      2. The Holy Spirit will not dwell in a person that is in sin and unclean. Romans 8:7-14 = "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. [8] So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. [9] But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. [10] And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. [11] But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.[12] Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. [13] For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. [14] For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."
    6. THEY DISHONOUR THE BODY:
      1. Impurities do dishonor the body, which is the temple of God. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 = "Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. [19] What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? [20] For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
      2. For sins lay waste the body.

      Proverbs 10:29 = "The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity."

      Proverbs 5:11 = "And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed."

    7. THEY WAR AGAINST THE SOUL:
      1. Against it’s life, it’s aspirations (service and salvation), and it’s happiness (dwelling in the Lord).
        1 Peter 2:11
        = "Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;"
      2. They darken the judgment and understanding.

      Hosea 4:11 = "Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart."

      Proverbs 12:11 = "He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding."

    8. THEY PROVOKE GOD’S ANGER:
    9. Ephesians 5:6 = "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience."

      1. His anger manifest in keeping the impure out of heaven.
      2. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 = "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, [10] Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

      3. Sins of impurity are not found among the saints who are pure in heart, thought, speech and life.

    Romans 6:12 = "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof."

  3. CONCLUSION:
    1. KNOWING THAT IMPURITES CAUSE US:
      1. To be in violation of God’s Divine Law.
      2. To dishonor God.
      3. To block God’s purpose of salvation.
      4. To grieve the Holy Spirit.
      5. To dishonor our body.
      6. To war against the soul.
      7. To provoke God’s anger.
    2. LET US THEREFORE ABSTAIN FROM ALL IMPURITIES. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 = "Abstain from all appearance of evil."
