Preaching An Unchanging Gospel

      2. II Timothy 4:1-2 = "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; preach the word; be instant in season, out of season,; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."

    2. A WARNING ISSUED TO THE GALATIANS:

      3. Galatians 1:6-9 = "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

    3. THE PREACHING OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST SHOULD BE PROCLAIMED WITHOUT RESERVATION (SHAME):

      4. Romans. 1:16-18 = "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith.     4. WHAT DOES THE PREACHING OF AN UNCHANGING GOSPEL CONSIST?

    1. PREACHING CHRIST’S AUTHORITY:
      1. Acts 3:22-23 = "For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people."
      2. Matthew 28:18-20 = "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
    2. PREACH CHRIST’S CHURCH:
      1. Matthew 16:18 = "And I say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
      2. I Corinthians 12:20 = "But now are they many members, yet but one body."
      3. Ephesians 4:3-4 = "Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling."
    3. PREACH ONLY THE GOSPEL TERMS OF PARDON:
      1. Faith in Christ. John 8:24 = ‘I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins."
      2. Repentance. Luke 24:47 = "And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." Acts 17:30 = "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent."
      3. Confession. Romans 10:9-10 = "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
      4. Baptism. Mark 16:16 = "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved." Acts 22:16 = "And now why tarriest thou? Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord."
    4. PREACH CHRISTIAN UNITY:
      1. Christ prayed for it. John 17:20-21 = "Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me."
      2. Paul pleaded for it. I Corinthians 1:10 = "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment." ……..
        Philippians 2:2-3 = "Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be like minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."
      3. Paul gave the foundation of gospel unity in Ephesians: [Read Ephesians 4:1-6, Ephesians 4:11-16].
    5. PREACH HOLY LIVING:
      1. Romans 12:1 = "I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto god, which is your reasonable service."
      2. Titus 2:11-12 = "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men. Teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world."
  3. CONCLUSION:
    1. THERE MUST BE A RETURN TO THE PREACHING OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST FREE FROM THE CHANGES OF MAN.
      1. Paul said "…That in the later times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils: Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."
         = I Timothy 4:1-3
      2. Paul also implied that the soundness of a unchanged gospel would be changed to please men.
        II Timothy 4:3-4         = "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."
    2. THERE IS NO ESCAPING THE ORIGINAL UNCHANGED GOSPEL:
      1. This unchanged gospel was spoken unto us by God’s Son (Hebrews 1:2).
      2. This unchanged gospel is that which is "…is upholding all things by the word of his power,…"
        (Hebrews 1:3).
      3. This unchanged gospel is "For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven." (Psalms 119:89).
      4. This unchanged gospel is the power of salvation (Romans 1:16).
      5. This unchanged gospel is that by which man will be judged (John 12:48-50).
    3. THE CONCLUSION: Hebrews 2:1-4 = "Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the holy Ghost, according to his own will?"
